Untitled document

Cephalopina titillator (nasal myiasis)
The larval stage of Cephalopina titillator is an obligate parasite of camel.

The adult fly deposits larvae in the nasal cavity where they may remain parasitizing the animal for a considerable period of time.In the Sudan the parasite was investigated by many authors in different localities - Central Sudan, Southern Darfur, Northern State, Eastern Sudan etc.

Both sexes and different ages were involved. In an outbreak of unknown aetiology with high morbidity and low mortality rates in Kassala State
(Eastern Sudan), 2% of the necropsied camels showed maggots of Cephalopina titillator.
